Previously, Bill Gates, co-founder of the software giant Microsoft, has issued his opinion regarding the state and relevance of several new technologies being developed today.

In an interview, Gates indicated his preference or support for AI (artificial intelligence) over Web3 and the metaverse, when asked about the relevance of this suite of technologies being developed, and the similarities it shared with the internet in its early days.

“AI is the greatest. I don’t think Web3 is that big or the metaverse stuff alone is revolutionary, but AI is quite revolutionary,” said Gates, quoted from Bitcoin.com, Monday (16/1/2023).

However, Bill Gates stated his current work is going in another direction. Bill Gates wanted to focus more on innovations such as helping pregnant women know if they need hospital assistance first using ultrasound technology, and treating conditions such as malnutrition and anemia.

Negative Views on Crypto

The billionaire has a negative vision of cryptocurrencies, warning in February 2021 that users with less money than Elon Musk should be careful about putting their funds in cryptocurrencies. Gates also said cryptocurrencies were based on “the bigger fool theory” in June 2022.
