Declared Fit, Enea Bastianini Returns to Racing at the Spanish MotoGP

MotoGP racer from the Ducati Lenovo team, Enea Bastianini, is confirmed to participate in this weekend’s race at the Jerez Circuit, Spanish GP. Bastianini was declared fit after being absent in the first three races of the 2023 season.

“I’m happy to be back with the team because we only had a few opportunities to work together this year,” Bastianini said in an official team statement, quoted on Friday (28/4/2023).

Ducati confirmed Bastianini had undergone a series of medical tests and was declared fit. The 25-year-old racer previously suffered a fracture of his right scapula following an accident at the Portuguese Grand Prix Sprint Race last March 25.

At that time, Bastianini rubbed against the Mooney VR46 Racing Team racer, Luca Marini at Turn 5. As a result, the Italian racer lost his balance and fell quite hard. The racer nicknamed The Beast has missed the main races in the Portugal, Argentina and the United States series.

Meanwhile, Bastianini’s teammate who is also the defending champion, Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia admitted that he couldn’t wait to return to racing at the Jerez Circuit with his team mates. The defending champion failed to score points in the last two main races.

“I am happy to be going down at the Jerez Circuit. Last year, I won pole position and indeed,” said Bagnaia.

Currently, Bagnaia is in second place in the 2023 MotoGP standings, 11 points adrift from the leader of the standings from the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, Marco Bezzecchi, who has collected 64 points. As for Bastianini, he has yet to gain any points and is scattered in 24th position.
