Facing tough opponents from China, Praveen/Melati admit that they are far behind

The Indonesian mixed doubles Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti will face tough opponents in the quarter-finals of the Asian Championship or Badminton Asia Championships (BAC 2023), against Chinese doubles Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong.

In the second round, Thursday (27/4/2023), Praveen/Melati successfully completed Malaysia’s doubles match Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei in a three game battle, 23-21, 18-21, 21-15.

Facing the first seed in the tournament, Praveen/Melati admitted that the match was a benchmark for their game which had declined due to the prolonged injury that Praveen had last year.

“Against Zheng/Huang, world number one. Whatever the result tomorrow, we want to give our best first. We are waiting for their opponents to be an illustration of how far we are behind,” said Praveen as quoted from PP PBSI’s statement, Thursday (27/4/2023) .

Praveen/Melati, who are currently ranked 39th in the world, admit that they still have the strong determination to prove that they can still compete against tough opponents. Praveen himself admitted that he was happy with the achievement of being able to qualify for the BAC 2023 quarterfinals.

“Every game we want to prove that we can still do it. Thank goodness we can enter the quarter-finals,” Praveen added.
