Fajar/Rian Keep Focus on All England 2024

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Indonesian men's doubles pair, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto, emphasized their readiness to act enthusiastically at the 2024 All England Open which will be held at the Utilita Arena, Birmingham, England, from 12 to 17 March.

Fajar/Rian, who previously won the title at the All England Open 2023, revealed that maintaining focus is the key to achieving success in this important tournament. Moreover, realizing that All England 2024 is part of the qualifications for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“We do not feel burdened as defending champions. We are committed to giving our best in every match,” said Fajar in PP PBSI's official statement, on Tuesday (12/3/2024).

The couple, who is often called Fajri, has made thorough preparations with a series of physical, technical and mental training together with the coaching team and other Indonesian teammates.

Even though the atmosphere in the arena has become normal for them, there is a significant difference in this edition, namely the use of gray carpet on the field.

“The atmosphere at the All England is always special, but this time it feels different with the gray carpet. This is a new experience for us and a bit surprising,” said Fajar.

Apart from that, the All England Open 2024 is the 125th edition of the oldest badminton tournament in the world. Its implementation also coincides with the beginning of the month of Ramadan, which starts today for Muslims.

“We are aware of the risks we face as athletes, especially when fasting away from our families. However, we face them with enthusiasm because this is part of our responsibility to make Indonesia proud,” said Fajar.

Apart from Fajar/Rian, Indonesia also fielded three other pairs in the men's doubles sector, including 2022 All England champions Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, 2019 All England champions Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, and defending Indonesian Masters champions Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.

Apart from that, the men's and women's singles sectors were also represented by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

Meanwhile, in the women's doubles and mixed doubles sectors, Indonesia fielded pairs such as Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
