Indonesia Officially Hosts the U-17 World Cup
– Indonesia officially hosts the U-17 World Cup which will be held from 10 November to 2 December.
This was disclosed by FIFA through their Twitter account. “Indonesia is confirmed to be the host of the U-17 World Cup. FIFA announced via Twitter.
The general chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, admitted that he could only be grateful for the blessings after Indonesia was declared the host of the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup through a joint decision at the FIFA Council meeting which was held at the FIFA Headquarters, Zurich, Switzerland, Friday ( 23/6) evening.
So far, FIFA is still planning the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held from 10 November to 2 December this year.
“I can only express my gratitude and Alhamdulillah, because the FIFA Council made a joint decision to appoint Indonesia to host the U-17 World Cup this year. This is a form of world trust in Indonesia under the leadership of President Joko Widodo.”
“I haven’t received an official notification yet. This is just an announcement made by FIFA at the FIFA Council meeting Friday evening in Zurich. Now the most important thing is how do we prepare ourselves to be good hosts,” added Erick Thohir in Jakarta, Friday evening.
The official FIFA website does not explain in detail the reasons for appointing Indonesia to host the tournament for this young footballer.
“I do not yet know the main reason for this determination. It is possible that some of the positive factors shown by Indonesia in world football over the past three months, such as the improvement of stadium facilities that passed the FIFA feasibility test, then held two FIFA Match Days against Palestine and Argentina, the champions. The world of Qatar 2022, which was successful and caught the attention of FIFA and international football, is the reason. However, we must be grateful for this because FIFA’s trust in us is still high. We must protect and prove this,” he concluded.
Previously the U-17 World Cup was scheduled to be held in Peru. However, FIFA revoked Peru’s status as host because it was deemed unprepared.
