iPhone 17 Pro will be the first Apple cellphone to use a 2nm chipset made by TSMC

In recent years, Apple has experienced a decline in iPhone sales in China. In fact, the Chinese market is a very important market for Apple's global revenue.

However, for some time now, the position of Apple's iPhone, which was once the dominant smartphone brand in China, has continued to be challenged by competition from local brands, especially Huawei.

Quoting Gizchina, Wednesday (10/4/2024), this happens because Chinese consumers are now increasingly choosing domestic products instead of iPhones, amidst China's geopolitics with western countries.

Data from UBS states that iPhone sales in February fell 4 percent compared to the same period last year (yoy).

Apple was recorded as having shipped a total of 17.4 million iPhone units globally. This number is down compared to 18.1 million units in February 2023. UBS also revealed that the biggest sales decline occurred in China, India and the United States.

Previously, Counterpoint analysts highlighted real changes in the Chinese smartphone market.

Apple experienced a 24 percent decline in sales in the first six weeks of 2024, compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, sales of other brands such as Huawei increased 64 percent.

This decline was due to the increasing market share of local smartphone brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo, which captured a larger portion of the market.
