Kominfo: Satria-1 Satellite Makes Major Contribution to Government Public Communication Activities

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Communication and Informatics) officially launched the Satria-1 satellite through the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, United States.

Satria-1 is a multifunctional satellite which is targeted to occupy an orbit of 146 degrees East or later be over the sky of Papua.

Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Usman Kansong said the presence of Satria-1 could make a major contribution to the government’s public communication activities.

Moreover, Usman said, Public Information Extension (PIP) who have been working remotely from various regions in Indonesia, but are limited or not connected to the internet network.

“Satria-1 can also be used by the Community Information Group (KIM) who wish to submit program proposals and disseminate information to the public,” said Usman in a press release received, Thursday (22/6/2023).

Acting Main Director of the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Arief Tri Hardiyanto said that the Satria-1 satellite was a great achievement for the government to advance digital Indonesia for the public interest.

Arief explained that all Satria-1 devices were monitored by Thales Alenia Space to ensure the devices function properly. For information, Satria-1 was launched with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.

Miss Indonesia West Papua 2023 Marsya Rarentewan enthusiastically welcomed the launch of this satellite.

According to Marsya, the launch of Satria-1 is a good start for the development of digital technology in Indonesia.

“(The presence of) Satria-1 can bring all corners of the region in Indonesia to be connected to various countries in the world. I hope that Indonesia will have more special rights with the launch of Satria-1,” said Marsya.

He also expressed his gratitude to the government, especially the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. This is because this is part of an effort to advance the digital sector.

Meanwhile, Miss Indonesia Gorontalo 2023 Veronica Windy Hapsari said the launch of Satria-1 would have an impact on remote areas where connectivity is still limited. Because, the region will have access to the internet.
