Mason Mount Reveals Reasons to Leave Chelsea to MU

– Mason Mount, Manchester United’s new midfielder, has revealed he left Chelsea after realizing the London club had not included him in their plans a few months ago.

On Wednesday (6/7/2023), Mount signed a five-year contract with United, for a reported transfer fee of £55 million (Rp 1 trillion).

The England international’s departure to Old Trafford has led to speculation that negotiations over a new contract at Chelsea have reached an impasse.

However, Mount stated that he felt Chelsea had no interest in keeping him long-term, and the allegations influenced his decision to move to the Red Devils.

“A few months ago I realized I was not part of Chelsea’s plans for the future and when I found out that United were involved I made a decision,” Mount told MUTV.

“This is a great club, which has produced some iconic players, and I wanted to be a part of it from the start. Moving here early and getting ready for pre-season was my main goal,” he added.

Mount has spent 18 years with Chelsea and helped them win the Champions League in 2021. Unfortunately, his form dipped last season when The Blues having a bad season.

He has a great work ethic, scored some important goals and delivered assists key that should have made him the top choice of manager Erik ten Haag.

“I’ve always seen myself as a midfielder, a number eight who can move forward and contribute in attack, score goals, create goals, but also has good defensive ability and helps the team out under pressure,” Mount said.

In the team based at Old Trafford, Mount will wear the number seven shirt. This jersey number was previously worn by several United legends such as George Best, Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.

Mount, keen to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors, even cut short his vacation to ensure his move to United materializes.
