Men's KU-17 National Championship, Perbasi Looking for Players for SEABA U-18

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Central Management of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) held the grand final of the National Championship between KU-17 Men's clubs at the Bogor IPB Vocational Gymnasium. This match will take place on April 15-20 2024.

A total of nine teams took part in the grand final of the National Championship between KU-17 clubs in 2024. They are Victoria Jakarta, Aras Jakarta, Aras Banten, GMC Cirebon, Spartan Yogyakarta, Sahabat Semarang, CLS Surabaya, WBS Surabaya, and Merpati Bali.

According to the Chief Executive of the National Championship Grand Final between Men's KU-17 clubs, Ferri Jufry, the participants were divided into three groups. They will compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and so on.

“In the grand final there will be 3 pools divided into each pool consisting of 3 teams. “The 1st rank in each pool will be included in 1 pool to determine rankings 1, 2 and 3,” explained Ferri to journalists in Jakarta, Sunday (14/4/2024).

“Then the 2nd places in each pool will meet again in one pool to determine the 4th, 5th, 6th places, and the 3rd places will be included in one pool to determine the 7th, 8th and 9th places,” he continued.

Ferri said, the 9 teams that qualified for the grand final of the National Championship between KU-17 clubs previously fought from the bottom. They brought the big names of each team to compete for tickets to the grand final of the regional qualifiers called the national championship qualifications.

“National championship qualifications are divided into 5 regions. “Every region ranked 1st and 2nd will qualify for the grand final round,” he explained.

According to him, all teams must go through this series of matches to get the title of best club in KU-17. As an appreciation for the players' struggle, PP Perbasi dispatched talent scouts to monitor each match.

This is because PP Perbasi has a clear program for preparing the national team at every level. It is hoped that the alumni of the National Championship grand final between KU-17 clubs can make the nation proud internationally.

“Remember, the grand final of the National Championship between KU-17 clubs is an event for selecting players to form the Men's National Basketball Team to take part in the SEABA KU-18 championship,” said Ferri.

SEABA KU-18 will take place on 19-21 July 2024 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. In this event there will be 4 teams including Indonesia. The other three countries taking part are Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia.
