Netizens Ask When to Fast Shawwal 2023 After Eid Al-Fitr Begins, Check the Pronunciation of Intentions and Procedures
Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Muslim citizens in various parts of the world are currently celebrating the victory day, Eid al-Fitr after fasting in the month of Ramadan.
Even though the month of Ramadan is over and Eid al-Fitr arrives, it doesn’t mean you can’t increase your piety to Allah SWT, one of which is by fasting Shawwal.
What is Shawwal fasting? Shawwal fasting is sunnah fasting which is done after Eid al-Fitr and the law is sunnah mustahab.
In essence, Shawwal fasting is an act that if done gets a reward, and if it is not done there is no sin or punishment.
Even though it is not obligatory to be carried out like the fasting of Ramadan, the virtue of fasting Shawwal can complete the fasting of Ramadan which has been fulfilled for a full month.
The virtue of fasting Shawwal is worth more than that, which is considered a full year’s fasting and the reward you get is multiplied.
“Whoever fasts Ramadan and then fasts six days of Shawwal, then he fasts like a whole year.” (HR. Muslim no. 1164).
Netizens also wonder when Syawal fasting can be done? Muslims are advised to carry out the sunnah fasting six days after Eid al-Fitr, which is exactly 2-7 Shawwal.
If this year, then you can carry out Shawwal fasting on April 22, 2023 if you carry out Eid the day before. Meanwhile, if you celebrated Eid al-Fitr yesterday, you can start fasting Shawwal on April 23, 2023.
Even so, you may not hurry as long as it’s still in the month of Shawwal to achieve the virtue of fasting.
To stabilize your heart, it is recommended for those of you who want to carry it out to recite the intention of fasting Shawwal. The following is the pronunciation of the intention of fasting Syawal for 6 days:
نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ غَدٍ عَنْ أَدَاءِ سُنَّةِ الشَّوَّالِ لِلهِ تَعَالَى
Nawaitu shauma ghadin ‘an adâ’i sunnatis Syawwâli lillâhi ta’âlâ.
Meaning: “I intend to fast the sunnah of Shawwal tomorrow because of Allah SWT.”
