Play Calm Bring Ginting to the BAC 2023 Finals

– Indonesian men’s singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, admitted that playing calmly was the key for him to beat Kante Tsuneyama and win a ticket to the final of the Asian Badminton Championships, Saturday (29/4/2023), at Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor Hall, Al Nasr Club, Dubai.

Relying on cross ball play, Ginting managed to outwit the 15th ranked player and won 21-13, 21-16. Ginting who is the second seed in this championship advanced to the final after playing 37 minutes.

“First, thank you for being able to finish the game well and without injury. It’s a very short time recovery from yesterday’s match, but I want to thank the PBSI officials who have helped me as much as possible to recover from the long match in the quarterfinals,” said Ginting in a PBSI release, Saturday (29/4/2023).

The previous day, Ginting was forced to play three games before defeating the 11th ranked player in the world, Li Shi Feng. Ginting had given up 10-21 in the first game. But he then recovered and fought hard to finish the second game with a win that went through deuce, 23-21 and 26-24. Ginting advanced to the semifinals after fighting tirelessly for 1 hour and 22 minutes.

“I must be tired, but I don’t want to just give up, I still have to overcome all the problems that exist. Once again, I am grateful to have coaches, both technical and physical, medical team, masseur, and physiotherapists who are alert and ready at any time,” said Ginting again.

“I don’t think too much about today’s match, we already know each other, have met many times too,” he said.

According to Ginting, he did lose in their last meeting but the conditions here are different and he believes he has another chance to win. “Just trying to play more calmly and not make many unforced errors,” said the 26-year-old player.

The player who was born in Cimahi admitted that he was happy to be in the final because this was the first time he had appeared in the final match of the Asian Championships.

In the final round, Sunday (30/4/2023), Ginting will meet Singapore’s representative, Loh Kean Yew. The seventh seed has the right to appear in the final match after defeating Lu Guang Zu from China with a score of 21-19 and 21-15.

“For the final, I want to focus first on preparing my mind, body and the like. We’ll see what it’s like on the court tomorrow,” said the men’s singles ranked second in the world.
