This defeat made Dejan/Gloria fail to follow in the footsteps of men’s singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who successfully advanced to the final match. Ginting was the only representative of the Red and White who qualified for the final after defeating Kante Tsuneyama in two games.

Relying on cross ball play, Ginting managed to outwit the 15th ranked player and won 21-13, 21-16. Ginting who is the second seed in this championship advanced to the final after playing 37 minutes.

In the final round, Sunday (30/4/2023), Ginting will meet Singapore’s representative, Loh Kean Yew. The seventh seed has the right to appear in the final match after defeating Lu Guang Zu from China with a score of 21-19 and 21-15.

Ginting was met with persistent resistance from Tsuneyama at the start of the first game. There have been six draws since the game started. However, after a 7-7 draw, Ginting began to find his opponent’s weaknesses.

Relying on crossing balls either through smashes or when returning the ball, Ginting then shot and was never caught up again. He was up 11-8 so there was an interval.

Kanta had narrowed the gap to only one in the position of 11-12 and 12-13. But then Ginting was still not caught up. After winning 16-13, Ginting’s five consecutive points brought him to finish the first game with a score of 21-13.
