Report from Florida: Satria-1 Satellite Successfully Airs, Number 5 Multifunction Satellite in the World and Biggest in Asia

Liputan6.com, Florida – The Satria-1 satellite or the Republic of Indonesia satellite successfully aired and arrived at its orbital slot, after the launch process which took around 36 minutes. This satellite took off from SpaceX Cape Canaveral, Air Force Station, Florida, United States (US) at around 05.21 WIB.

Based on monitoring Tekno Liputan6.com, Monday (19/6/2023), the process of launching the Satria-1 satellite went smoothly. Start from process startups until deploythe Satria-1 satellite managed to fly without any significant obstacles.

The Satria-1 satellite itself was launched using a Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX. Even though it has now successfully aired, the satellite cannot operate immediately.

At this time, the satellite will perform the stage electric orbit raising which takes about 145 days. After that, Satria-1 will carry out a series of trials before finally being able to provide optimal service.

It is planned that this satellite will operate in the fourth week of December 2023 or early 2024. It should be noted that production of the Satria-1 satellite by French space manufacturing company Thales Alenia Space has started from September 2020 to May 2023.

Satria 1 has a capacity of 150Gbps and orbits in the 146 degrees East slot which remains above Papua. This satellite is strengthened by 116 Spot Beams, so that its internet service can reach all of Indonesia, especially the 3T areas (underdeveloped, frontier and outermost).

Please note, the Satria-1 satellite is the largest multifunctional satellite in Asia and number five in the world. This satellite project uses the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.

Satria-1 is a government-owned satellite, but will be managed by PT Satelit Nusantara Tiga or PSN with a mechanism build, operationand transfer (BOT). After 15 years, the assets will be taken over by the government.

For this satellite project, PSN has prepared 11 Earth stations or gateways located in Cikarang, Banjarmasin, Batam, Pontianak, Tarakan, Manado, Kupang, Ambon, Manokwari, Timika and Jayapura.
