Resident Evil 4 Demo Secrets for Chainsaw Mode and TMP

The Resident Evil 4 demo has a few secrets up its sleeve, allowing you to get the TMP weapon sooner and experience the crazy sawmill mode. If you’re up for another challenge, there’s also a way to spawn two chainsaw men (aka Dr. Salvador) during the main village fight. These demo secrets are great ways to keep things new and challenging in the demo and should keep you busy until the Resident Evil 4 remake releases in full. Here are three Resident Evil 4 demo secrets and how you can trigger them to keep Leon Kennedy on his toes.

The first secret to the Resident Evil 4 demo is ‘Mad Chainsaw Mode’ – a secret, extreme difficulty setting that has a random chance to activate whenever you start a new game. Importantly, the crazy chainsaw mode will not be available in the full game and is exclusive to this demo. It’s usually a random event, but you can enter a cheat code (thanks miner50001 (opens in new tab) on Twitter) in the demo’s main menu to safely activate the mode – I’ve tested it multiple times and it works consistently! If you really want to give it a try, here’s the code you’ll need for the Mad Resident Evil 4 Demo Mad chainsaw mode:

• PlayStation: Hold L1 + R1 and press D-Pad, Left D-Pad, D-pad, Right
• xbox: Hold LB + RB and press D-pad, Left D-Pad, Down D-Pad, Right D-Pad, X, Y, B, A, A.
• Note that you must hold L1 + R1 / lb + RB the entire time you are entering the code.

It’s significantly harder than the demo’s regular difficulty and has a lot more enemies, making it a serious challenge for experienced Resident Evil players. Based on the name, I would have expected all ganados to be replaced by chainsaw guys or a significant increase in chainsaws, but that doesn’t seem to be the case – it’s the RESERY EAD 4 TIBLED LOW beyond 10.

You can actually get the Resident Evil 4 TMP during this demo in the main village that Leon arrives at shortly after escaping the hunter’s lodge. It’s a decent weapon too, and collecting it with the method below means Leon will have it for future demo plays as well, although we don’t yet know if that secret applies to the next full game. Here’s what you need to do to get your hands on this little tactical machine gun:

1. Play through the Resident Evil 4 demo as normal, but discard everything in your inventory before You arrive at the gate leading to the village. A good place to do this is the first typewriter you find after the hunter’s quarters.
2. Open the gate to the village and head down the main path as normal.
3. take the first right and then turn left to reach a small courtyard behind the cow shed.
4. Go to the well at the edge of the courtyard and drop down. If you do not dispose of your equipment, this pit will be covered and cannot be accessed.
5. Inside the pit, you’ll find a blue chest with the TMP in it and four barrels, two of which will contain ammo for the

With the TMP in hand, go outside and destroy some cattle and the chainsaw man. Although be aware that TMP can chew through ammo so spray and pray with caution especially as you had to give up your pistol and knife to get it! Although Leon retains the TMP for subsequent Resident Evil 4 demo plays, you can replay this secret as many times as you like.

What’s better than a chainsaw man? Two! Again, we’re not sure this is something that will be in the final game, but if you want the added challenge of fighting two Saviors (not at the same time) in the Resident Evil 4 demo, follow these steps courtesy of RuleTime (opens in new guide) on Twitter:

1. Go to the gate on the other side of the village to trigger the cutscene and make the chainsaw man appear.
2. Kill the chainsaw man. You want to do this quickly to minimize the hit you’ll get from Ganados. It’s better to use the TMP, the knife and some kicks.
3. Run back along the path to the village square and enter the house on the right. This will trigger another cutscene where Leon safely enters, but Ganados will start to enter. You’ll also see the Chainsaw Man, two appearing to see the door.

When you enter this house, move the wooden shelf unit to cover the window and grab the shotgun at the top of the stairs. You can also pick up some shells from the bed. Note that fighting the two chainsaw men doesn’t do much more than fill you with a sense of pride and accomplishment – congratulations!
