SEA Games 2023: Who will face the U-22 national team in the semifinals, Thailand or Vietnam?

– The Indonesian U-22 national team won Group A in the 2023 SEA Games after sweeping away wins in three preliminary matches. Finally, Indra Sjafri’s troops defeated Cambodia 2-1 at the Olympic National Stadium, Phnom Penh, Wednesday (10/5/2023).

Two winning goals for Garuda Nusantara were scored by Titan Agung in the 9th minute and Beckham Putra Nugraha in the 51st minute. A clean sweep of wins in the four group matches made Indonesia qualify for the semifinals as Group A winners. One goal for Cambodia was scored by Sin Sovannmakara in the 45th minute.

With this victory, the Indonesian U-22 national team scored perfect points, 12 out of four group matches. Indonesia won Group A accompanied by Myanmar as runner up group advances to the semifinals.

Later in the semifinals, Indonesia will face the runner up of Group B in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Myanmar will face the winner of Group B.

Then who is the runner up in Group B which will be faced by Indonesia.

The decision will be confirmed in the match this afternoon, when Thailand and Vietnam will kill each other to avoid Indonesia in the semifinals.

Thailand and Vietnam are currently packing perfect points, 9 thanks to a clean sweep of wins in three matches. Thailand temporarily occupies the top of the group due to superior goal difference.

They will fight in the final game this afternoon to determine who is the winner of the group.

Facing Thailand and Vietnam will certainly be a tough test for Indonesia. However, the U-22 National Team must have realized that with the stages that have entered the semifinals, the opponents they will face will be tough.

“Of course we are grateful to qualify for the semifinals by winning group A status, this is thanks to the hard work of the entire team. We are also ready to play in the semifinals and whoever the opponent is, we must be ready,” said Beckham Nugraha Putra after the match.
