The Hockey National Team Brings Gold Medals Home to Indonesia After the SEA Games in Cambodia

The Indonesian national team from the men’s indoor hockey sport brought home a gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.

The faces of the Indoor Hockey athletes looked so happy when they arrived in Indonesia when they landed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten.

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) officials and representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) welcomed the arrival of the Indoor Hockey squad.

Indoor Hockey Captain, Prima Renaldi Santoso, admitted that he was happy to be able to win a gold medal after defeating the opposing team from Malaysia in the SEA Games in Cambodia.

“Proud, sad, all mixed up, but thank God, our struggle for four years for us to take part in the European Championship and the Asia Cup was also not in vain,” said Prima at Soetta Airport, Monday (8/5/2023) evening.

Prima admitted that he was worried when the match was about to end. However, with the solidity of the team on the field, in the end the final against Malaysia was won with a score of 2-1.

“The time in the last five minutes was actually H plus really, but on the other hand this won’t happen again. Then on the other hand the coach has also played free play, and let go,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Hockey Federation, Ardi Pulangan, said that what has been achieved today is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand.

“The mentality of the match that has been honed for years, playing in the same way, the result, O Allah, has indeed given us the best,” he explained.

It is known that it is not only the men’s Indoor Hockey team who can donate a gold medal at the Cambodian SEA Games. However, the women’s hockey team brought home a bronze medal.
