The opening of the 2023 SEA Games was marked by an incident with the Indonesian flag upside down

The Indonesian contingent was part of the defile at the opening ceremony of the SEA Games 2023 Cambodia with around 45 people participating who were representatives of 25 athletes and officials as well as 15 representatives of the CdM Team and the Executive Committee of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia).

The athletes who will take part in the opening parade of the 2023 SEA Games come from the sports of karate, teqball, swimming, pencak silat and takraw. Adi Wirawan representative from KE NOC Indonesia, Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Team Lexyndo Hakim, Vice CdM Puji Lestari, Deputy I Andi Astribhaskoro Emir, Deputy II Ibnu Riza Pradipta and others.

In the defile, the Red and White Flag was carried by a swimming athlete who won a gold medal in the 100 meter backstroke at the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games, Flairene Candrea Wonomiharjo.

“It’s an honor and of course I’m very happy to be able to represent Indonesia in Southeast Asia by carrying the Red and White flag. This is an opportunity I can’t turn down. Anyway, I’m very proud,” said Flair in a written statement, Thursday (4/5/2023) .
