WhatsApp Trials Integrating Meta AI into Messaging Platform, Wants to Make Messaging Smarter

Previously, WhatsApp conducted trials regarding a feature that could notify the uploaded status of saved contacts via notification.

This feature is present in WhatsApp version 2.24.6.19 and was introduced as “Mentions”.

Mentions can allow users to mark contacts saved in WA status updates with notifications via floating notifications.

WhatsApp appears to be exploring broader notification options for status updates in general.

Quoting from Gizmochina, Monday (8/4/2024), WhatsApp feature leaker site, WABetaInfo recently discovered screenshots showing that the application is testing notifications for invisible status updates.
