Zinedine Zidane Gives Signals to Train Again

Zinedine Zidane has been absent from managerial play since leaving Real Madrid for a second time in 2021, but the Frenchman may be open to returning in the near future.

The man known as Zizou has been linked with many high-profile jobs in recent years, but remains on sabbatical, biding his time and recharging his batteries.

Meanwhile, he has been touted for Juventus, Manchester United, France and even Real Madrid.

Now, after two years of absence from the touchline, Zidane himself has opened the door to the possibility of returning to coaching.

In an interview with the magazine GQ the football legend said that he is now fresh after being cut off from a career as a coach for two years.

“I’ve said many times that when you play for France then become a coach, it’s logical if you think about it, but now is not the time,” Zidane said.

It may not be time for national team duty, but after two years of shutting down and resetting it may be time to get back to coaching. Zidane has spoken about the need to rest and the need to rest in general.

“When I come home, my head always goes back to work. In this job, everything comes from everywhere,” said Zidane.

“All the information is above you and you have the responsibility to make all the decisions. It really drains your energy.

“Sometimes, and I’ve done it twice now, I need to rest. One coach is in charge of 23 players and never stops.

When I was playing, Enzo and Luca (his son) wanted to play all the time,” said Zidane.

“I trained a lot and at home I just wanted to rest, but they wouldn’t let me.”

Zidane coached Real Madrid in two terms, 2016-2018 and 2019-2021. He successfully led Los Blancos to win two La Liga titles (2016–17 and 2019–20), 2 Spanish Super Cups (2017, 2019–20), 3 Champions Leagues in a row (2015–16, 2016–17 and 2017–18) , 2 European Super Cups (2016, 2017) and 2 Club World Cups (2016, 2017).
