2026 World Cup Qualification: Shin Tae-yong promises to end the Indonesian national team's curse at home to Vietnam

Shin Tae-yong himself admitted that his team did not perform very well in the first half of the home match against Vietnam. The tactician from South Korea assessed that the Indonesian National Team played less coherently due to the lack of training time.

This condition is inversely proportional to the performance of the Garuda squad when it made history through the stages knock-out 2023 Asian Cup for the first time. Even though they were battered at the hands of Australia, the Indonesian national team played aggressively and tirelessly, because they had been practicing for almost a month.

“At the Asian Cup here, we trained for 20 days in Turkey, so (the Indonesian National Team) was able to produce a good performance,” said Shin Tae-yong to the media crew after the match at SUGBK, Thursday (21/3/2024).

“However, this time there are many European players jet lag and needs adjustment with local (colleagues). They got together and after only 3 days, we were straight into competing. “That's why it takes time to implement tactics, and to be honest there is still not enough training time for the Indonesian National Team,” he added.
