4,900 Runners Participate in LPS Monas Half Marathon 2023

– As many as 4,900 runners enlivened the LPS Monas Half Marathon 2023 race which took place from the Monas starting point on Sunday (2/7/2023) morning WIB. While the finish point is at Istora Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta.

Before start, the LPS Monas Half Marathon participants first warmed up led by an instructor. Followed by singing the national anthem “Indonesia Raya”.

General Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI) who is also the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan hopes that Indonesian runners can show their best because there are African runners who usually dominate marathons.

“In this event there were 80 foreign runners out of the total number who took part, namely 4,900 participants. As for the number of countries participating, I don’t know,” said Luhut.

So, he continued, the enthusiasm of the runners in welcoming the LPS Monas Half Marathon was very high.

Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, said that this event was expected to grow the potential of Indonesian track athletes.

“This event is expected to become a continuous event in the city of Jakarta. Apart from that, it can also develop the potential of national athletes,” concluded Purbaya.
