About PSSI Technical Director, Erick Thohir: 6 Names Remaining

The General Chairperson of PSSI, Erick Thohir, gave updates regarding the selection of PSSI Technical Director (Dirtek). He said, the selection process has now narrowed down from 20 candidates to 6 names.

“We have sorted our director of technology from 20 to 6 candidates. We will have 1 candidate interview in the near future,” said Erick Thohir in Jakarta, Friday (23/6/2023).

Previously, Erick Thohir had also left for Germany to work with the DFB (Germany’s PSSI). One of the forms of this cooperation is to find a new PSSI direction.

Regarding PSSI directives, Erick has also communicated with Shin Tae-yong (senior national team coach) and Indra Sjafri (U22 national team coach).

“Yes, just wait. Hopefully we can get (PSSI Director of Technology). Yesterday coach Indra and Shin asked me. I ask for patience. Do not let there be a new directek so No compact,” said the Minister of BUMN.

Regarding the candidate for directors from Germany, Erick Thohir said that his name was not the person the Indonesian football public thought of.

Erick also explained that the PSSI Director of Technology would later be tasked with carrying it out reviews domestic trainers.

“The directek function is to review the existing trainers. He will be assisted later, maybe (people) from Germany. If there are enough funds to travel all over Indonesia, give training to the coaches,” said Erick.

Previously, the Director of PSSI was Indra Sjafri. However, Indra Sjafri was then assigned to coach the Indonesian U22 national team at the 2023 SEA Games. After winning gold at the 2023 SEA Games, Indra Sjafri continued to be trusted to handle Garuda Muda.
