Indonesia Hosts U-17 World Cup, No Israel

– Indonesia was appointed by FIFA to host the U-17 World Cup, the world football body announced this through its social media, Friday (23/4/2023).

“Indonesia is confirmed to host the U-17 World Cup.” Once FIFA announced via Twitter. It is unlikely that Indonesia’s appointment this time will trigger a fuss because Israel is certain to be absent from the championship which is planned to be held from November 10 to December 2.

As is known, Indonesia’s status as the host of the U-20 World Cup was revoked after there were pros and cons regarding Israel’s presence in this championship. The presence of Israel triggers rejection in Indonesia. FIFA also decided to revoke Indonesia’s host status and transfer it to Argentina. Israel itself made it to the semifinals and was in third place after the deep playoffs beat South Korea.

Israel will not appear at the U-17 World Cup because it did not qualify for the U-17 European Cup finals which are the “qualifiers” for qualifying for the U-17 age group world championship.

In the qualification for the U-17 European Cup, Israel did advance to the elite round after in the first qualifying round sitting in second place in Group 3 behind England.

In the qualifying round, the U-17 Israel National Team was drawn in Group 3 with England, Georgia and Lithuania. They succeeded in advancing to the next round because they finished second under England, overcoming Georgia and Lithuania.

But in allowance elite groupIsrael slumped in fourth or last position in Group 1 under Serbia, Bosnia and Belarus.

The U-17 Israeli national team was unable to win a single victory. They were only able to achieve two draws against Bosnia and Herzegovina (1-1) and Belarus (2-2) while losing to Serbia (0-3).

At the U-17 European Cup finals, the Blue Continent then produced England, France, Germany, Poland and Spain as representatives to act in the U-17 World Cup.

The U-17 World Cup finals were previously scheduled to be held in Peru. However, FIFA revoked host status because the South American country was deemed not ready.
