After Opposing Palestine and Argentina, Does the FIFA Ranking of the Indonesian National Team Increase or Decrease?

– Two FIFA Matchday trials in June have been played by the Indonesian National Team. First played a goalless draw against Palestine and followed by a 0-2 defeat to world champions Argentina.

The defeat over Argentina was predictable considering that the opponent was ranked number one in the world.

With these results, how big is the impact on Indonesia’s FIFA ranking?

As is well known, Indonesia’s ranking in the May 2023 edition was in 149th FIFA position with 1046.14 points.

A draw against Palestine makes Squad Garuda received an additional 1.77 points and remained in 149th place in the FIFA rankings.

But after losing to Argentina, Indonesia had to lose 0.45 points. With this, from these two matches, Indonesia got a surplus of 1.32 points.

Unfortunately, Indonesia’s ranking on FIFA has actually dropped to 150th with 1,047.46 points.

This cannot be separated from the results of other trials, namely the results of Bostwana who got 15.07 points after winning over Libya in the 2023 African Cup Qualification match. Botswana is now in 147th place in the FIFA rankings.

Even so, meeting the world champion Argentina team gave many other plus points for the Indonesian players. In addition to experience, of course, it also sharpens the mentality of the players to face opponents whose level is far above.
