Aldila’s steps in mixed doubles stopped in the semifinals

– Indonesian tennis player, Aldila Sutjiadi, had to bury his dream of advancing to the Wimbledon final after he and his mixed doubles partner, Matwe Middelkoop, surrendered to Joran Vliegen/Yifan Xu, Wednesday (12/7/2023).

Aldila/Matwe failed to advance to the top of the party after surrendering to the Belgian/Chinese pair, 1-6, 3-6, and 3-6.

In the other semifinal match, Lyudmyla Kichenok/Mate Pavic successfully advanced to the final after defeating Jonny O’Mara/Olivia Nicholls, 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, and 6-3.

The final match between Joran Vliegen/Yifan Xu against Lyudmyla Kichenok/Mate Pavic will be held on Saturday (13/7/2023) starting at 22.30 WIB.

Aldila/Matwe advanced to the semifinals after defeating Marcelo Arevalo/Marta Kostyuk, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).

Meanwhile in the women’s doubles, Aldila who partnered with Miyu Kato was eliminated in the round of 16. Aldila/Kato were defeated by Barbora Straycova/Hsieh Su Wei in straight sets 5-7, 6-7 (4-7).

Aldila’s success is a new record for Indonesian tennis players who have reached the Wimbledon semifinals in the history of tennis.
