Appears regularly in Venice to help Jay Idzes in the Indonesian National Team

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Defender Jay Idzes said that appearing regularly at his club Venice really helped his adaptation with the Indonesian national team.

Since his move to the club which is based at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium in July 2023, Jay Idzes has appeared 18 times in all competitions. During his appearance, Venezia pocketed seven clean sheets. The club competes in the top flight of Italian Serie B.

The 23-year-old defender missed 13 Venezia matches this season due to a retinal vein occlusion injury between the end of October last year and the end of January this year.

After recovering, Jay Idzes immediately regained the trust of coach Paolo Vanoli at the heart of I Leoni Alati's defense.

“Of course it helps you find out, because you get a rhythm and I play every week 90 minutes it helps of course, I think it's good,” said Idzes at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/3/2024).

The 1.9 meter tall defender was also greatly helped by the pattern of play at Venice which played a formation of three parallel defenders. This formation is often used by coach Shin Tae Yong in the Indonesian national team.

“Yes, Venice and Indonesia both play with three defenders. So I think that's quite helpful because I know what the coach wants and what kind of playing system he wants. So that's very helpful,” said Jay Idzes.

He is very enthusiastic and can't wait for his debut which is in sight when Indonesia will compete against Vietnam in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Thursday (21/3/2024) at 20.30 WIB.

“It's very good, I can't explain it because everything happened very quickly, we have been trying to go through this process for a long time but now everything feels so fast that I have met my teammates and taken part in training,” said the defender born in Mielo, the Netherlands.

“I hope to be able to play and make my debut later, the point is I really do excited,” added the man who was born June 2 2000.
