Apple will use AI made by Baidu in iPhone 16, Mac OS and iOS 18 for the Chinese market

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Apple has reportedly chosen the Chinese search engine giant, Baidu, as a partner for generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology for the iPhone 16 and other products.

This information was revealed by reports from a number of media in China. Quote South China Morning PostTuesday (26/3/2024), Apple will use Baidu's AI called Ernie Bot.

The plan is that Ernie Bot will be installed directly on the iPhone 16, Mac OS and iOS 18 for the Chinese market. Apart from Baidu, Apple is also said to have lobbied other large technology companies, such as Alibaba Group Holding.

Previously, Apple was reportedly exploring the possibility of collaborating to install Gemini (Google) and ChatGPT (OpenAI) generative AI models on their devices.

However, because Google and OpenAI's AI models are not officially available in China, Apple must look for corporate partners in China if they want to release their new AI-powered products in the Bamboo Curtain country.

The news that Apple will use Baidu's generative AI in the iPhone 16 is getting stronger after Apple CEO Tim Cook visited China.

During the visit, he attended the opening of a new retail store in Shanghai and met with key suppliers in China.

On Sunday, March 24, 2024, local time, Tim Cook praised suppliers in China for “making a major contribution” to the iPhone manufacturing factory's carbon neutral goal.

The Apple boss gave this praise when he was present at a high-level meeting organized by the Chinese government, and attended by Prime Minister Li Qiang.
