Beat Chinese Doubles, Fikri/Bagas reach the last 16 of the Swiss Open

Jakarta, Beritasatu, com – Indonesian men's doubles Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana successfully won tickets to the last 16 of the Swiss Open after defeating the Chinese pair Huang Di/Liu Yi, Wednesday (20/3/2024).

Playing at St. Jakobshalle Basel, Switzerland, the men's doubles number nine in the world defeated the doubles who qualified through this qualification with a score of 21-16, 21-18. They won after playing 42 minutes.

In the round of 16 which will be held tomorrow, Fikri/Bagas will meet the doubles who also qualified through the qualification of Ming Che Lu/Tang Kai Wei. The Taiwanese doubles appeared in the last 16 after beating Vinson Chiu and Joshua Yuan from the United States 21-11 and 21-19.

“Thank God it was easy and smooth, the match was quite tight and they played quite well, but thank God we were able to overcome it,” said Fikri after the match.

Women's doubles Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi also won tickets to the last 16 after beating the mixed Danish and Dutch pair Natasja P Anthonisen/Alyssa Tirtosentono 21-16, 20-22 and 21-18.

In the round of 16, Febriana/Amallia will be challenged by Australian doubles Setyana Mapasa/Angela Yu.

Another Indonesian representative who advanced to the top 16 was men's doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. They beat Joshua Magee/Paul Reynolds from the Republic of Ireland 21-8, 21-19.

In the last 16 which will be held tomorrow, Sabar/Reza will meet Xie Hao Han/Zeng Wei Han from China.

Another pair that advanced to the last 16 today was mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emnauelle Widjaja who beat British representatives Marcis Ellis/LAuren Smith 21-11, 21-10. In round 16, they will be challenged by Chinese doubles Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi.

Unfortunately, their footsteps were not followed by the women's doubles, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Allessya Rose. They surrendered to India's representatives who are also sixth seeds Tanisha Crasto/Ashwini Ponnappa vs 18-21, 21-12 and 19-21.
