Distribute ASEAN Para Games Bonus, Jokowi: Don’t Buy Luxury Goods

– President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave bonuses to athletes and coaches who won the 2023 ASEAN Para Games medals in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (3/7/2023).

In his message, Jokowi appealed to athletes to use bonuses received from the government for long-term investments or purchase of investment instruments/goods.

“In this case, I want to give a message to really make good use of this bonus to continue practicing and improving performance. Don’t use it to buy luxury items. Use it to buy items that can be used as long-term investments because the nominal value is very large. ,” said the President.

The Indonesian contingent managed to bring home 158 gold, 148 silver and 95 bronze medals in the ASEAN Para Games.

The government provides bonuses with a total value of IDR 320.5 billion, with details of IDR 525 million for gold medalists, IDR 315 million for silver medalists and IDR 157.5 million for bronze medalists.

The President requested that the bonus be invested properly and wisely. On this occasion the president did not forget to thank the athletes, coaches, assistant coaches and all contingents for their tenacity and hard work to bring honor to the nation and state.

“The nation, state and people are very proud of the athletes who have won the overall championship at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games. This is the third time in a row. Once again, thank you,” said the President.
