This is done to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulations issued by the European Union. Epic immediately responded by calling the move a “serious violation of the DMA.”

Epic argued that the reason behind the ban was due to Apple's fear that Epic would not comply with the contractual agreements inherent in obtaining developer accounts.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has been vocal about Apple's changes to the European Union's regional App Store, calling it a “sneaky new example of malicious compliance.”

Sweeney said Apple technically complies with DMA, but doesn't make things easy for third-party app stores in some ways.
