Gambling House Expands to League 1, Save Our Soccer Asks Jokowi for Help

– Save Our Soccer (SOS) asked for help from President Joko Widodo or Jokowi to intervene regarding the gambling house case that hit League 1 2023-2024. This is because the presence of gambling houses in League 1 has made the highest level of football competition in the country even worse off.

Two weeks after the launch of League 1 this season, SOS assesses that the advertisement for the SBOTOP gambling house has become increasingly massive, both at jersey Persikabo 1973 as well as on electronic billboards for a number of matches. At least, in the week there are three matches decorated with gambling house advertisements.

The three matches, namely Persita vs PSIS at Indomilk Arena on July 8 2023, Madura United vs Persik Kediri at Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan Stadium on July 9 2023, and Persikabo vs Persija at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong on July 9 2023.

For this reason, SOS asked Jokowi to order National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo to prevent and take action against these gambling houses. It is feared that ignoring the activities of gambling houses will damage the morale of the nation.

“President Jokowi, with his mental revolution, must protect Indonesia’s young generation from the influence of gambling, which is prohibited in Indonesia. England, which legalized gambling, has issued a policy starting from the 2025/2026 season, Premier League clubs may no longer be sponsored by gambling houses because it damages the mentality of the younger generation. ” said the SOS Coordinator, Akmal Marhali, Wednesday (12/7/2023).

“Pak Jokowi, help with football. The state must not lose to bookies. These irregularities and violations must be thoroughly investigated. Especially now, the police are incessantly eradicating gambling, including online gambling with code 303,” he said.
