Ginting and Dejan/Gloria to the BAC semifinals, these are the results of the Indonesian representative

– Indonesia passed two representatives namely mixed doubles, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, and men’s singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting to the semifinals of the Badminton Asia Championships or Badminton Asia Championships, while seven other representatives fell in the match Thursday (28/4/2023) at Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor Hall, Al Nasr Club, Dubai.

Dejan/Gloria advanced to the last four on Saturday (29/4/2023) after defeating Indian representatives, Rohan Kapoor/Reddy Sikki, 21-18, 19-21, and 21-15. Dejan/Gloria are entitled to appear in the semifinals after fighting for 1 hour and 5 minutes.

In the semifinals, Dejan/Gloria will face Malaysian doubles, Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie. The eighth seed qualified for the last four after defeating Indonesian doubles, Rinov Rivaldi/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, 21-17, 15-21, and 21-19.

Ginting also pocketed the top four tickets after defeating the 11th ranked player in the world, Li Shi Feng. Ginting had given up 10-21 in the first game. But he then recovered and fought hard to finish the second game with a victory that passed deuce, 23-21, 26-24. Ginting advanced to the semifinals after fighting tirelessly for 1 hour and 22 minutes.

In the semifinals, Ginting will meet Japanese representative, Kante Tsuneyama. He advanced to the last four after defeating the eighth seed, Prannoy HS. The Indian representative collapsed after not being able to continue the match in the third game while trailing 9-13. Previously, Tsuneyama had won 21-11 in the first game.

The seven Indonesian representatives who were eliminated in the quarter-finals were two mixed doubles Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari and Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, women’s doubles Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, and world number one men’s doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and the other men’s doubles are Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, and women’s singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

Rivov/Pitha lost eighth seed from Malaysia, Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie, 17-21, 21-15, and 19-21. The 14th ranked double fell after 55 minutes of fighting.

The other mixed doubles, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, failed to advance to the semifinals. They stopped after being defeated by the first seeds Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong, 11-21, 17-21. Praveen/Melati gave up after 30 minutes of fighting.

The women’s doubles, Febriana/Amalia, were stopped by the Thai doubles, Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai, 21-16, 18-21, and 11-21.

Fajar/Rian also failed to advance to the last four after surrendering 20-22 15-21 to the eighth-seeded Malaysian pair, Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi, with a score of 20-22 15-21. Fajar/Rian gave up after playing 37 minutes.

The other men’s doubles, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, also failed to advance to the semifinals after being stopped by the Japanese pair who were also fourth seeds, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi with a score of 14-21, 17-21. Fikri/Bagas fell after 35 minutes of fighting.
