Hakim Ziyech’s transfer to Al Nassr is in danger of running aground

– Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech’s transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr reportedly failed.

Throughout the month of June, Ziyech has been one of a number of players the Blues which many have associated with his move to one of the Saudi Arabian Pro League teams that has been taken over by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Even though the two clubs were previously reported to have agreed on a transfer price and it was only a matter of completing medical tests.

However, journalist Santi Aouna reported on Thursday (29/6/2023) evening that Al-Nassr staff had identified a problem with the Moroccan international’s knee.

Aouna claims that Al-Nassr are now considering whether to interest them in the player who stars for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, besides the knee problem, there seems to be an indication of another problem, namely Ziyech’s hip. This causes serious doubts about whether the transfer will be completed.

Al-Nassr is now expected to further test Ziyech to determine if they are still intent. Signing Ziyech would be seen as a major coup for the Saudi Pro League.

From Chelsea’s point of view, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are jumping at the chance to make £8m as they look to increase their FFP position on 30 June, the final counting day for 2022-23.

Ziyech is also eager to take on a new challenge after having started at Stamford Bridge. The 30-year-old missed out on the chance to join Paris Saint-Germain in January because Chelsea officials allegedly made a mistake with the relevant paperwork.

However, at the moment, it appears he is facing the possibility of missing out on his move from Chelsea, which has left him in a period of uncertainty.
