Haykal Alhafiz, Once Lived in a Mud Victim Refuge Now Shining in the U-22 National Team

– Haykal Alhafiz’s parents expressed pride in the success of their son and his colleagues in the U-22 national team to win the 2023 SEA Games gold. Indonesia ended its 32-year wait to win SEA Games gold after defeating Thailand 5-2 in the final.

Met at his home in the Grabagan Tulangan area, Sidoarjo, the parents of the defenders for the U-22 Indonesian National Team expressed pride and gratitude for their son’s achievements in competing against Thailand in Cambodia.

Haykal’s biological mother, Nur Hikmawati, admitted that almost every time she always prayed for the success of her child and the victory of the Indonesian national team against Thailand, before the match took place.

“Every time he wants to compete, he always asks to be prayed for so that he can play confidently and comfortably while playing,” said Nur Hikmawati, Friday (19/05/23).

“Every day my son video calls at night, it’s with me and my family,” said Nur Hikmawati.

Meanwhile, his father, M Rifai, admitted that the youngest child had a hobby of playing football since grade 3 in elementary school. To channel his son’s hobbies and desires, his father eventually enrolled Haykal in a soccer school (SSB) in Sidoarjo, which eventually led his son to become one of the U-22 national team players.

“When he was 9 years old in 3rd grade, he started to like soccer,” said Rifai.

Haykal’s father and mother, who have lived in refugee camps for Lapindo mudflow victims with Haykal for the past 6 months, now hope that their son, Haykal Alhafiz, will not be arrogant and remain humble.

“My hope is for Haykal not to be arrogant, to be humble. The spirit of continuing to train and achieve more,” hoped Rifai.
