Indonesia Officially Hosts the 2023 U-17 World Cup, Who Appears and Wins the Most?

Indonesia still has confidence after failing to host the 2023 U-20 World Cup. Indonesia will host the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

FIFA announced the news, Friday (23/6/2023). The event will be held from 10 November to 2 December 2023.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup was originally held in Peru. However, the South American country withdrew due to infrastructure unpreparedness.

Meanwhile, Indonesia was supposed to hold the 2023 U-20 World Cup from May 20 to June 11. However, FIFA revoked this right following the rejection by a number of regional heads of one of the participants, namely Israel. As a substitute, FIFA then chose Argentina as the host.

Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir admitted that he could only be grateful for the blessings that were taken through a joint decision at the FIFA Council meeting which was held at the FIFA Headquarters, Zurich, Switzerland, Friday evening local time.

“I can only express my gratitude and Alhamdulillah, because the FIFA Council made a joint decision to appoint Indonesia to host the U-17 World Cup this year. This is a form of world trust in Indonesia under the leadership of President Joko Widodo,” he said.

“I haven’t received an official notification yet. This is just an announcement that was launched from FIFA. Now the most important thing is how do we prepare ourselves to be good hosts,” added Erick Thohir.
