KOI Strengthens International Diplomacy in Qatar

– The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) or the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC) continues to strive to strengthen international diplomacy to increase positioning Indonesian sport in the eyes of the world. Diplomatic efforts were demonstrated directly by the President of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari during his visit to Doha, Qatar.

On the sidelines of the SEA Games 2023 Cambodia, Oktohari took the time to fulfill the invitations of the International Judo Federation (IJF), NOC Qatar, and the National Federation of Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Qatar to attend the Gala IJF World Championship 2023 which was then followed by a match single event ultimate judo.

The man who is familiarly called Okto came accompanied by Indonesian NOC Treasurer Tommy Hermawan Lo and Deputy Secretary General IV Daniel Loy took advantage of this opportunity to increase opportunities for cooperation to increase Indonesia’s sporting achievements.

“NOC Indonesia has a very close relationship with NOC Qatar and IJF. Of course we maximize this opportunity to strengthen international diplomacy, both with Qatar and also other international federations such as the IJF,” Okto said in a statement from Doha, Tuesday (9/5/2023).

On this occasion, Okto also discussed the potential for collaboration with Qatar NOC President Sheikh Joaan Al-Thari who also serves as Deputy Chair of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and IJF President Marius Vizer and Qatar National Federation of Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Khalid Alatiya .

Not only that, NOC Indonesia also held intensive discussions with the Head of the International Esport Federation (IESF) Vlad Marinescu and an important Asian sports figure from Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fatah Al-Sabah.

After attending activities in Qatar, Okto along with other NOC staff will go to Cambodia to provide direct support to the Indonesian team who are struggling at the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia.
