League 1: Persebaya Defeats Host Persis

– Persebaya Surabaya started their action in League 1 this season with positive results after defeating the host Persis Solo, 3-2, at Manahan Solo Stadium, Central Java.

Both Persis and Persebaya played cautiously but looked attractive in the first half. Both teams are ambitious to score goals to gain three points.

Brono Moreira gave Persebaya a 1-0 lead through a penalty in the 29th minute after a foul by Persis goalkeeper Gianluca Claudio.

Exactly increasing their pressure to equalize. They had a golden opportunity in the 43rd minute through Jaimerson Xavier’s shot, but it was blocked by Persebaya goalkeeper Ernando Ari.

In the second half, Persis continued to press, while Persebaya relied on quick counterattacks. Persis managed to equalize 1-1 in the 60th minute through Moussa Sidibe’s kick from Alexis Messidoro’s pass.

The score turned 2-1 for Persis when Ramadhan Sananta scored in the 62nd minute after receiving a pass from Alexis Messidoro. However, Persebaya immediately equalized to 2-2 in the 63rd minute through Bruno Moreira’s goal.

In the 83rd minute, Persis conceded an own goal by Faqih Maulana, so Persebaya led 3-2. The score lasted until the end of the match.

Persis Solo coach, Leonardo Medina, apologized to the fans and management for this defeat. He stressed that the players had tried hard, but the results were unsatisfactory.

On the other hand, Persebaya Surabaya coach, Aji Santoso, was grateful for this result. He said that the first match is always tough because the players are still adapting to the real competition. This victory gives confidence to the team going forward.
