League 1: PSS Sleman vs Persis Ends in a 2-2 draw

– PSS Sleman held Persis Solo 2-2 in the second week of the 2023/24 Indonesia League 1 at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Friday (7/7/2023).

Two goals from PSS Sleman were scored by Ricky Cawor and Wahyudi Hamisi. Meanwhile, Persis Solo scored goals through Fernando Rodriguez and Eky Taufik.

This draw temporarily places PSS Sleman in first place in Indonesia’s Liga 1 with four points from two games. While Persis Solo is ranked 13th with one point.

PSS Sleman took the initiative to attack first. The first threat came when striker Yevhen Bokhasvili’s shot was still secured by Persi’s sole goalkeeper Gianluca Pandeynuwu.

PSS opened the advantage in the 22nd minute through Ricky Cawori’s header to welcome Jihad Ayoub’s bait. Score became 1-0. PSS almost doubled their lead when Jonathan Bustos’ cross found Ricky Cawori in front of Persis’ goal.

At the end of the first half, in the 42nd minute, Persis was able to equalize at 1-1 thanks to Fernando Rodriguez’s goal completing a pass from Moussa Sidibe.

Persis was able to turn things around by winning 2-1 in the 63rd minute thanks to Eky Taufik’s goal after receiving a Sidibe free kick which hit the wall of PSS players.

Left behind, PSS tried to catch up. PSS’s efforts paid off in the 80th minute when Jihad Ayoub’s corner entered Wahyudi Hamis with a header that tore into Persis’ goal.

Score 2-2 draw lasted until the end of the game.
