Legally, Mason Mount is Now Officially a Manchester United Player

– Mason Mount has finally ended his 18-year tenure in West London with Chelsea by officially joining Manchester United.

The England international joins The Blues aged six in 2005 and made his professional debut for the club 12 years later, making a total of 195 appearances.

The 24-year-old has already won the Champions League in 2021, as well as the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.

The attacking midfielder already said goodbye to Chelsea fans on Instagram.

“Hey Chelsea fans. Given the speculation over the last six months this may not come as a surprise to you but it doesn’t make it any easier to let you know that I have made the decision to leave Chelsea.

“I feel you deserve more than a written statement, so I wanted to tell you in person how grateful I am for all of your support over the last 18 years.

“I know some of you will not be happy with my decision but this is what is right for me at this point in my career.”

Mount was a key player in Frank Lampard’s first spell in charge and maintained that status under Thomas Tuchel, scoring 11 goals and assisting 10 in his only full Premier League season.

The 2022-23 season was a struggle for the Portsmouth native as injuries limited his playing time with Graham Potter as coach and during Lampard’s reign.

With his contract set to expire next season, Stamford Bridge bosses have opted to sell Mount rather than let him leave on a free transfer in 2024.

He is now Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer as the Red Devils prepare to return to the Champions League next term.
