Menpora Dito: David Jacobs Indonesian Sports Hero

Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo called para-table tennis athlete David Jacobs a national sports hero. Menpora Dito condolences on the death of David Jacobs.

Dito added, before he died, the athlete whose full name was Dian David Michael Jacobs was taking care of the administration to take part in the table tennis championship in Slovenia.

“So we consider David a hero because he lost his life while in the process of making our country proud,” said Dito.

Dito admitted that he did not know the exact cause of the death of the two Paralympic bronze medalist. Dito called the Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Karyoto to investigate the crime scene (TKP) and study the chronology of David Jacobs’ death.

“What is certain is that the Kemenpora has asked for his attention and because he found this on the street, I asked the Metro Police Chief to immediately process it,” said Dito, who was planning to pay his respects to the funeral home.

Apart from winning two bronze medals at the 2012 London Paralympics and 2020 Tokyo for class 10 individual numbers, David Jacobs was also noted to have donated three Asian Para Games gold medals, for class 10 individual numbers at the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games and the 2018 Jakarta Asian Para Games, as well as class 10 doubles at the 2018 Asian Para Games.

Previously, based on a written statement by the Kahumas KAI DAOP 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa, said David Jacobs was found on the Gambir-Juanda KM 4 + 700 train line on Thursday (27/4/2023) night.

“The victim’s identity is Dian David Mickael Jacobs. When the victim was found, he was still unconscious and officers immediately evacuated him for further assistance by taking him to Husada Hospital, Central Jakarta, using the station ambulance,” said Eva.

“According to the hospital, the patient died early Friday around 03.30 WIB. The reason for his presence on the rail line is unknown. Currently the police are conducting an investigation and the station is very open in providing information to assist the investigation process and will continue to coordinate with the police. ,” Eva added.
