Mohamed Salah Motivated to Break Another Record With Liverpool

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is motivated to break another record after scoring the crucial goal which helped his side secure a 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday (6/5/2023).

The Egypt international scored from close range in the 13th minute for what was also his 30th goal of the season. It was also Salah’s 100th goal at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah also became the first Liverpool player to score in nine consecutive home matches. His 186th goal, equaled Steven Gerrard’s record in fifth place on the club’s all-time goalscoring chart.

“That means a lot to me. I said before, I feel at home, I’m happy. This record is something that makes me proud, to be honest. I work very hard and everyone knows and sees that,” Salah told Sky Sports.

“I’m just motivated to keep breaking records and just scoring goals and helping the team win games.”

Manager Jurgen Klopp also praised the striker. Klopp even seems to have almost run out of ways to describe the quality of the 30-year-old striker with the Reds.

“The numbers he’s creating, we all know that after his career he’s going to be seen as one of the greats of all time, that’s for sure. Now he is still in his career and some people maybe don’t appreciate it enough, but we appreciate it,” said Klopp.

“He deserves all the credit he gets and he will get even more after his career, because at a club with all-time great players we had in the past, it’s very special,” added the German manager.

A sixth win in a row – and third in a week – left Liverpool a point adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United. Klopp admitted that his team would fight extra to get back into the Champions League zone.

“The level of focus the boys showed was incredible, the concentration was high and again a lot of good signs for us, how can we look forward. We have to do it more consistently.”
