Lampard Invites Chelsea Players to Drink Beer After Winning First Win

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard invites his players to celebrate their first win after returning to handle the Blues. Visiting Bournemouth headquarters, The Blues won 3-1, as well as breaking their record of six consecutive defeats.

Late goals from Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix led Chelsea to victory. The three points earned away from home were Lampard’s first since returning to Stamford Bridge as a substitute manager.

The former England and Chelsea midfielder taught his team to celebrate the club’s first win in nearly two months.

“They should enjoy it and we are happy. Because when you don’t have a good feeling for a while it gradually knocks you down,” Lampard told a news conference after the Bournemouth game.

“I’ve been in a relatively tough period so of course they have to enjoy tonight and have a beer or a glass of wine or do whatever they want to do,” said Lampard.

The 44-year-old manager said the Blues’ precious win represented an important process of change for the London club.

“Today is a nice little step forward. Players are all human, we are all affected in the same way when you don’t win games or you don’t feel at your best. The only way to get through it is to fight and work hard,” said Lampard.

Victory in Dorset put the two-time European champions in 11th position in the standings with a collection of 42 points. Lampard hopes the players can rebuild bonds with supporters, where Chelsea’s recent streak of defeats has made Chelsea supporters boo their own team.

“Our fans were amazing today so I personally appreciate their support. I think it’s important to build a connection between players and fans.”
