AC Milan and Inter Milan met in the semifinal match of the Champions League at San Siro, Milan, Wednesday (10/5/2023) evening local time or Thursday (11/5/2023) at 02.00 WIB.

With a place in the Champions League final at stake, Italian champions Milan will battle it out for first-leg advantage. However, Inter certainly does not want to hand over a ticket to Milan.

The winner of the Champions League semi-final between Milan vs Inter will meet defending champion Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final in Istanbul.

Milan and Inter have both won in the Italian League derby this season. In this season’s Derby della Madonnina, the Rossoneri won 3-2 in September, while the Nerazzurri won last February’s match with a score of 1-0. Inter also came out victorious in the Supercoppa Italiana.

Milan, who toppled Inter as Italian champions last year, finished runners-up in Group E of the Champions League during the fall. Previously, Milan had been absent from the Champions League for seven years.

The seven-time European champions then eliminated Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16 before upsetting Napoli last month. Milan won 2-1 on aggregate against their Scudetto winner.

Like their Champions League semi-final opponents, Inter have kept three clean sheets from their four knockout round matches so far, with former Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana playing a role as important as Mike Maignan for Milan.
