PSS Humiliates Bali United in Premier League 1 Match at Wayan Dipta Stadium

– PSS Sleman successfully picked up maximum points by embarrassing hosts Bali United, 1-0, in the first match of the 2023-24 League 1 at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Saturday (1/7/2023). The Javanese eagle won three points thanks to a single goal from midfielder Ricky Cawor in the 46th minute.

The match started with Bali United attacking aggressively from the first half whistle blown by referee Asep Yandis. The team had several opportunities that should have led to goals, such as from left-wing striker Privat in the 21st minute and left-back Ricky Fajrin in the 27th minute. However, Bali United’s attack was blocked by a solid defense from PSS Sleman.

Despite this, the match was still goalless until the end of the first half after the referee gave a minute of added time before the two teams halftime.

In the second half, PSS Sleman, who was a visiting team, immediately increased the intensity of their attacks. The entry of central midfielder Esteban Vizcarra to replace Jonathan Bustos provides additional strength for the visitors.

In less than two minutes of the second half, PSS Sleman’s left-wing midfielder, Ricky Cawor, managed to score an unexpected goal with a direct kick in the 46th minute.

After the goal, the two teams attacked each other and tried to set their own strategy. Bali United coach, Stefano “Teco” Cugurra, made five substitutions to provide new strength, including replacing Ilija Spasojevic with Made Tito Wiratama. PSS Sleman also made three substitutions to improve their game and put pressure on Bali United.

In the 87th minute, Bali United got the chance to score through Fadil, but his shot went off the left side of the opponent’s goal. Until the end of four minutes of extra time, Bali United failed to score a goal, so the match ended with a score of 0-1 for PSS Sleman’s advantage at home to Bali United.

The opening game of the 2023/2024 Indonesian League 1 season at the Dipta Stadium was attended by 3,450 spectators who remained enthusiastic despite the heavy rain that fell on the Gianyar area, Bali.
