Real Sociedad vs Madrid, Los Blancos Fall This is Ancelotti’s comments

– Real Madrid gave up 0-2 at home to Real Sociedad, Tuesday (2/5/2023) or early Wednesday WIB. Coach Carlo Ancelotti also asked his players to forget this defeat and prepare for the Copa del Rey final on Saturday, then against Manchester City in the Champions League semifinals.

Los Blancos played well in the first half, but Takefusa Kubo’s early goal in the second half, coupled with Dani Carvajal’s 60th-minute red card, made things very difficult for the reigning La Liga champions.

After playing with only 10 people, Madrid conceded again five minutes before the game was over. The host’s second goal was scored by a substitute, Ander Barrenetxea.

As a result of this defeat Madrid also failed to close the distance with the standings leader Barcelona. Xavi Hernandez’s team are close to the title, 14 points ahead of Madrid.

Speaking post-match (via Marca), Carlo Ancelotti issued a call to his players, stating that they need to step up ahead of important games against Osasuna and Manchester City next week.

“The first half we competed, we gave away goals, and then there was a red card. It’s complicated,” said the Italian coach.

“Now comes a very important moment for us. We must be ready. If we avoid the mistakes we have conceded recently, we will improve in the next two games.”

The defeat itself meant little to Real Madrid, as their chances of retaining the La Liga crown were slim before the match. However, this poor performance will concern Ancelotti.
