On the other hand, Apple is reportedly working on EarPods with a USB-C cable for the iPhone 15 lineup, which will be released in the coming months. These devices will be an alternative to the AirPods covered under the Made for iPhone (MFi) program.
This news was leaked by a well-known leakster, ShrimpApplePro, through his Twitter account. He stated that the MFi or Made for iPhone program for USB-C cables and this new version of EarPods is currently in mass production.
For your information, MFI is Apple’s certification standard for various accessories, selling parts, and providing chips to certain companies for authentication. This program aims to ensure that accessories connected to iPhone meet Apple’s quality standards.
Information from this leakster circulated in the midst of new regulations set by the European Union in October 2022. This rule requires the use of the USB C port as a universal charging standard for all devices marketed there.
On the other hand, previously, some users of the Chinese social networking platform Weibo expressed doubts that Apple would include USB-C accessories in the program.
“Apple has created its own type C, namely the lightning interface IC that will be used in new iPhones this year and MFi-certified peripherals,” they wrote in their discussion, quoted from Apple Insider, Friday (28/4/2023).
