Taipei Open 2023 Results: Mainstay of Japan, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo Qualifies for the Semifinals

The Red and White contingent has only four representatives left in the last eight of the Taipei Open 2023. Apart from Chico, there are Jafar Hidayatullah/Aisyah Salsabilla Putri Pranata, Putri Kusuma Wardani, and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.

However, unlike Chico, Putri and Jafar/Aisyah, who had previously competed, had also been eliminated after being defeated by their respective opponents.

Their downturn made the Garuda Contingent’s efforts to improve their report card in the competition even more difficult. Since the Taipei Open was first held in 1980, Indonesia has collected 47 titles or the most among other countries. The Red and White players far outperformed South Korea, which ranks second with 28 titles.

However, Indonesia’s report card at the event has recently been somewhat disappointing. In the last five editions, Indonesia was only able to bring home one trophy when mixed doubles Alfian Eko Prasetya/Marsheilla Gischa Islami won the 2018 edition.
