Mumbai: The way has been cleared for the release of ‘The Kerala Story’ in West Bengal surrounded by all the controversies. The Supreme Court today lifted the ban imposed by the state government on this film. That is, now this film will also be released in West Bengal. The Supreme Court today heard the petition filed by the makers against the ban imposed on ‘The Kerala Story’ in West Bengal.
During this, the CJI said, “We are lifting the ban imposed on the film on May 8 by the West Bengal government. There doesn’t seem to be any solid basis for this ban.” Along with this, the court also directed the Tamil Nadu government to ensure all security arrangements for the screening of the film and to ensure the safety of the film-goers.
The Bengal government had justified the ban
Earlier, during the hearing of the case, the West Bengal government justified its decision to ban the film ‘The Kerala Story’. , In an affidavit given in the Supreme Court, the West Bengal government had said that the film ‘The Kerala Story’ is based on fake facts and contains hate speech which can hurt communal sentiments.
This film can create hatred between communities, which can lead to law and order situation in the state. In the affidavit, the West Bengal government had based the intelligence inputs behind the ban. However, the Supreme Court has lifted the ban on the film today.
‘The Kerala Story’ becomes the second biggest hit of the year
Let us tell you that ‘The Kerala Story’ is getting a lot of love from the audience since the first day of its release and this film is performing brilliantly at the box office. ‘The Kerala Story’ has also crossed the lifetime collection of Ranbir Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar at Rs 149.05 crore.
After 13 days of release, the total earning of the film has been Rs 165.94 crore. Soon it is expected to join the 200 crore club. ‘The Kerala Story’ is directed by Sudipto Sen and Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani play important roles in it.
