The new KOI chairman is expected to increase Indonesia’s sports achievements to the world stage

– The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo hopes that the Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) for the 2023-2027 period who was elected will continue to improve Indonesia’s sporting achievements towards the world stage.

This was conveyed during a press conference after the Congress of the Indonesian Olympic Committee at the Ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel, Senayan Jakarta, Friday (30/6/2023).

“Alhamdulillah, today I have represented Indonesian President Joko Widodo to open the 2023 KOI Congress, where I said earlier that, Mr President hopes that this Congress will be able to bring Indonesia’s sporting achievements on the world stage and add to the arsenal of achievements for Indonesian sports,” said Menpora Dito.

He also said that, in the future, Indonesia’s sporting challenges would be even tougher, especially since there would be many international championships that would be held in the near future. Especially the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou and the 2024 Paris Olympics later.

Therefore, he wants the government’s synergy and collaboration with all sports stakeholders in Indonesia to continue to be well established.

“The President also thanked the KOI management for the 2019-2023 period for their dedication. Hope in the future there will be continued synergy and collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Sports with all stakeholders Indonesian sports can unite with each other in order to face international events in the future,” he added.

“We are also excited to open the door for Indonesia to host the world championship in sports. In the future, the government will continue to support all sports to improve the achievements of athletes towards world achievements,” he said.

The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) is holding a congress to elect the General Chair for the 2023-2027 period. The congress has determined 66 verified vote owners from 67 member sports. It consists of 33 vote owners from category 1 or Olympic sports, and 33 sports from non-Olympic numbers.
