Trial Match, Persebaya Prepares 22 Players to Face Persis Solo

– Persebaya Surabaya brought 22 players to Solo City, Central Java, to face Persis Solo in a test match scheduled for Saturday (24/6/2023) tomorrow.

Persebaya coach, Aji Santoso, is considering lowering his flagship goalkeeper, Ernando Ari Sutaryadi.

However, Aji Santoso stated that his decision would depend on Ernando’s physical condition and whether he is ready to start from the start against Persis Solo. This consideration is important considering that League 1 2023/24 will start soon in the next few days.

The coaching team wants to avoid injury or fatigue to Persebaya players when the competition starts. Moreover, Ernando was previously trusted by Coach Shin Tae-yong to play against Argentina on the FIFA Matchday.

“In Solo later, I will bring only 22 players, not all players. We want to give some players a break and we are only allowed to bring 22 players by the committee,” explained Aji Santoso as quoted by the New Indonesia League website.

“Yes, there are some players who need to rest,” he added.

As in previous trials against Bali United FC and Persija Jakarta, Aji Santoso wanted to give opportunities to players who had not played much in these two trial matches. Most likely, player rotation will be carried out again in the match against Persis Solo.

Meanwhile, the presence of the Brazilian striker, Paulo Victor, in the test match is still in doubt. Paulo Victor is still under the team doctor’s monitoring after having a slight problem with his leg after the match against Persija.

“The doctor advised him to rest, but in my opinion the problem is not serious. Maybe he only needs 2-3 days,” said Aji Santoso, former Persela Lamongan coach.
